The role:
The Senior Propulsion Engineer's primary responsibility is the design of solid rocket motor primary and secondary structures, along with propulsion components, with an emphasis on schedule, affordability and scale.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of solid rocket motor structures and propulsion components, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- Innovate solid rocket motor designs autonomously.
- Oversee assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of prototypes and production builds.
- Validate product performance through rapid iteration cycles.
- Produce and review CAD models and drawings according to industry standards.
- Address hardware discrepancies and conduct supporting analyses.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to address design and availability challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering, or related fields.
- 5+ years of design and analysis experience, including student or internship work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in CAD and GD&T standards.
- Expertise with aerospace materials, propulsion systems, and rocket motors.
- Experience in high-rate production hardware design, including alternative industries.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or eligibility.
